The Final Thought

Posted by Rell

It's been a fast paced year for many seniors. Freshman year is soon a blur. I've lost and gained friends. Had the many ups and downs that a normal teenager would endure the course of there high school career.

When I look back I've done my good of the high school life. I also enjoyed the time with friends. Going to all those crazy parties. Even the homework. Volunteering my time to the support of my high school. Sticking behind a student run organization known as Technology Students Association (TSA).

My real final though to High School is I regret nothing and I've lived and learned.

Texting and Driving: My Pledge

Today I am taking a pledge to not text and drive. I feel like this is a positive way to make driving, being on the roads and highways a lot more safer. I was watching a t.v. show, I forget what it was, but the guy asked everyone to take a look at their last message and decide if it was worth putting your life in danger. Many saw that it wasn't including me.

I gave up texting and driving a while back. I will admit it was so hard to do. It seemed as if the world just kind of slowed down and that text message would just be urging me speed it all back up. I would always hear the ringer go off and just have urge to reply. Right then and there I knew I had to fight that pain of not replying. In my head there were thoughts of what if the one text really needed me to reply. Or it has to be important. It was only getting harder.

One day a solution came to me. It was how about silence your phone that way your listening to your radio and you wouldn't hear it. It worked great. I missed a lot of calls and texts but I can say that I'm still living.

Transcendentalism Quote (make-up)

When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hands and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventures.- Henry David Thoreau

I don't that there is much we can do about getting comments for our blogs. A lot of students who are involved with blogging are using a different setup than we are. Such as edublog. I don't think they want to deal with the hassle of commenting and a different blog name. I know I wouldn't, I'm just saying.

Another reason why there not commenting is because it's getting closer the end of the school year. Maybe there not even bothering to do it. There probably commenting blogs that they know.

Blogger Challenge #5

I do not wish put a license for anything creative that I am sharing on this blog. I say this because this blog is for educational purposes mainly. I usually work on this blog in class. So I don't feel the need to have someone ask me if they can use something off this class blog. Only if I wish to sell or I am very passionate about whatever my creativity sparks. Besides everyone borrows.

Spring Break

Posted by Rell

My spring was an alright thing. I was able to relax and enjoy. I hanged with my buddies and caught up with old friends. I drove down to Miami and enjoyed myself for the little time I was there. Did plenty of driving. That went short when my spark plug pretty much ejected from the engine block. I played video games and went swimming. The weather was nice and hot. The water was ice cold.

The Random Environment - Challenge #4

Posted by Rell

http://www.patagoniavolunteer.org/images/environment_volunteering_640.jpg

Through time the environment seems to keep changing constantly. It goes from weather to geographical. I believe that no one truly knows why or can explain it. Meteorologists can only give educated guesses and chase weather patterns and tell everyone if they are going to meet their doom or not.

Weather is all around us. Weather would be the warm or cold, rainy or dry, humid or cool. If all the different areas weather is always different. Good weather is determined on the person who likes the condition.

Geographical features make the environment unique. Landscaping shows a lot about the area you are in. For example rough terrain may not be suitable for farming. The soil most likely dry and rocky, making it difficult for vegetation to grow. Another area could be really hot and humid. This area could be tropical like the everglades or swamps.

Manatee County -941- BC #3

Posted by Rell

I reside in Bradenton of Manatee County, Fl. This town is what I would describe as semi-big. Its not a major place but it has it's perks. Here we have beaches, beautiful parks, and new home of the Bradenton Marauders.
Manatee county has a very nice scenic highway. Traffic is easy to deal with. Not many hold ups or delays. Its only certain times there are hold ups.

Student Pictures Used on Blogs BC #2

Posted by Rell

For students to post their pictures on their blogs can create concern. However for students to use photos of themselves would have to be when the topics are appropriate to match the picture. Other appropriate times to use pictures is when they are discussing things about them and who they are. Even when displaying work there would be times to pose with the work. This would be appropriate because it wouldn't be randomly posted. The picture would have a theme and give support. It leaves out the chance for a mind to wonder about.

My Grand Marquis

Posted by Rell

I own a black 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. I recently purchased it for 2 grand at an auction. At first all I can think about was a four door truck or SUV and a Ford Crown Victoria. That's all I had my focus on. I knew the the two were basically the same vehicle just different brands. The Grand Marquis rides pretty smooth. It's runs quick and bold. Thanks to the V8 engine for this big car.

When I purchased the car I was kind of hesitant about it. That when away with our first drive on the highway. I found I fell in love with it. I would use my cruise control on trips longer than 30 minutes. Cruise control is a great invention on cars. The only thing I'm not to happy with is my rear suspension. To me it sits to low or it's not at stock height. Even with that flaw it still rides smooth. Bumps don't bother the car because the LS versions come with handling packages. Which explains smooth sailing.

Usually when I see cars I see a potential for enhancement. With my Marquis I've started to put my enhancements into motion. When I first bought the car I had a new stereo installed. Recently I purchased a new antenna (old one was broken off) because I was unable to listen to the radio. Currently I'm researching for 18 to 20 inch rooms. The rooms have to be all black or black and chrome. They also have allow the car to look sporty. Another addition to the car would be either two screens for the head rests or just one flip down screen in the middle where the dome lights are. Next thing would be to re-tint the windows (black of course). Last for now would be to find marauder tips for the exhaust. The engine is strong so I would now just wait to add parts and performance to the car. For now I would just take good care of it.

My Blog Should be Visited Because......

Posted by Rell

My blog should be visited because i offer my up most opinion on different subjects. Through my writing I stick to reality. As much I can though. As I learn more about blogging things will turn out a lot more interesting. I plan to make my web page as attractive as I can. I can achieve this by adding a background that's appealing. also by personalizing it a lot more with pictures video and maybe sound.

Since this is a class blog I will be posting on books that we read in class. A lot of my posts are what my teacher finds. Sometimes we have a free blog. From reading my blog you could learn how I think on certain matters and figure out my mood.

The Contrasts

Posted by Rell

We recently watched 2 videos in on driving and safety. One video stressed about the dangers of texting and driving. The other pointed out seat belts. Both the videos were able to put out there message clearly.

The video on texting and driving was brutal. It was able to point out the dangers. Show everyday life. Then showed the showed the effects of it. It wasn't very touching.

The video on seat belts took a very opposite approach. It showed a more touching side. The scene seem to be about family. It was the message was meant to say wear your seat belts to see your family another day. The little girl in this video was wearing butterfly wings. Maybe to symbolize life or an guardian angel?

I personally liked both videos. I thought the one on seat belts was used to touch the audience. The one on texting and driving was to horrify the audience to not text and drive. I believe the texting and driving video was a lot more affective.

The Odd Reporter

Posted by Rell

A reporter arrives in town, and starts asking the inhabitants odd questions.
"Would you think the weather would kill an elephant in a corn field?", "How tall was the monster?", "Would Brittany Spears bring sexy back?" The townspeople only looked at each other curiously. They had no answers for this strange reporter.

And yet, the reporter kept on. "How many oranges can fit in the empire state building?" A little boy answered "As many as you would like".The reporter found that the town had a giant ant problem. One girl responded "This assignment makes no sense." A man asked the reporter "From where do you come from?" The reported pointed down the road and said "That way." Then the reporter suddenly asked "How much ant bait is used in the sewers?"

Suddenly, from one of the storm drains, a huge ant appeared and grabbed the reporter in his mandibles and crushed him to bits. Miraculously his voice was still heard. No one knew where it came from and how. A dog picked up his vocal chords and ate them, and his voice was never heard again. The end.

We have been taught in school. About anyone can tell you that there is something that the teachers can do better according to what they teach. I believe that teachers should know what they are teaching and doing. The lesson should be understandable taught with interest. Teachers should have a lesson plan that can make an impression on the student(s). Don't bombard the pupil with work after work. Go above and beyond to make sure the lesson is taught.

When your in a classroom you expect to learn or at least that's what I think. The instructor should not only have an idea but fully understand what they are presenting to their class. The key points of the lesson should be pointed out. The general idea should be fully expressed. In doing the instruction their should be an interest in what is taught if not a passion. I believe that if the teacher shows this interest it would make an impact on the student that they are teaching something worth the time to listen.

The lesson being taught should also be made understandable. Not everyone is going to be at the same speed. If there are notes involved be informational in bits. The work shouldn't be bombarded. Set deadlines and post them up so everyone knows what is expected. Go above and beyond to show that you really care about them passing or becoming successful. After all they are probably the next generation that will determine where this country is headed. If they aren't educated correctly things will not change for the better.

Once was a beauty with no brain
for her thinking was a pain
her affection was strong
she likes to kiss and tag along
but, that's before I knew she was insane

In the bed she wept
she had not been swept
off her feet I mean
her life seemed to lean
her prince always crept

She sure is a fighter
but only a lil lighter
her love is like trickles
and it only tickles
it gets me falling when she hugs tighter

She is similiar to me in many ways
the only difference is she really pays
the flight of her love
is greater than a dove
the look in her eyes I can’t help but gaze

She takes me to a place
that fills me with grace
it sure has a view
o how you only knew
with her her love i could only embrace

Texting and Driving your Choice!

Posted by Rell

Texting and driving has become the new popular thing in driving. Along with that popularity comes the dangers. It has now surpassed drinking and driving. The dangers similar to that of drinking your attention is crippled. while texting and driving the focus goes from from being alert at the to being alert about what your friend sent you through their qwerty keyboard of their new touch screen phone. I used to text and drive until I realized the true dangers. I appreciated that law enforcement has stepped and attempt to stop this problem

Life Changing

Posted by Rell

In my lifetime I haven't had much life changing events. The most life changing I had was when I got a car for the first time. I was able to have a lot more freedom. I had a job so I was pretty much good on gas. I would often take road trips. Sometimes I would travel by myself, but enjoy the company of others when I'm on the road.

My Car was a Ford Crown Victoria. It was sweet and fast. I drove it up to about 400,000 miles and it still would want to ride. Until the day and the O rings gave out. Expensive fix made me give it up.

Puerto Rico

Posted by Rell

Below the state of Florida about 1,038 miles from Miami lies Puerto Rico. Among one the many places I want to go. On account of the beauty of it's shore it tops the rest. Beyond the shore it's scenery throughout the landscape. Outside the homes in the soil holds the roots of the trees within the leaves lies the frog known as the coqui. The sound of is heard from a distance away. As you get near them it gets louder. During the day brings the smells of the foods. Throughout the food so good amid the sense of adobo and sofrito

She Lit the Match

Posted by Rell

There were many good teachers I've encountered but one stood out the most. Her name was Ms. Anderson. I had her for 1st and then 3rd grade. Those years were the most influential time. At that age your mind is a sponge that soaks up everything. Ms. Anderson understood that and she did to the best of her ability to make an impact on as many students as she can. She taught me to really understand what I was reading. Back then I had trouble with multiplication so she would spend extra time with me so that I would catch on to it. She was caring and treated students as if they were her own. Even though we had a lot of lessons she still made it where it was fun and enjoyable. To me she is a match lighter.

My Nickname

Posted by Rell

Most people have a nickname mine is Rell I've had it sense I was able to remember things. Basically since a baby. Rell comes from my 1st name Jerrell its the end part of it. My mom was someone who initiated it. One day she just started calling me by Rell. It was weird I naturally knew she was talking to me. When I look back that's what it was.

She Walks in Swagger

Posted by Rell

She walks in swagger, like a rap
of countless lines and starry punches;
and all that's best of flow and style
meet in her aspect and her voice
thus join to that tender beat
which musicians of flashy days denies

one hit the more, one smite the less
had half impaired the nameless rapper
which despise in every word he spits,
or envy the stream of her lines
Where thoughts compose and express
How pure, how respected their quarters.

And on that tongue, and of her speech,
so hard, so tight, yet fluent,
The smiles that win, the fans that glow,
but tell of days in hardship spent,
A mind at turmoil with all above,
A heart whose care is truth!

Strong Points of Jerrell

Posted by Rell

I don't have many attributes. Though the ones I do possess are very good ones. I am good at visual drawing. I'm what one would call a people person. I can be very passionate some of the time. I do my best to keep promises. When it comes to work I probably would be the hardest working.

When it comes to drawing I am really good. Not to toot my my own horn but, when I draw I'm pretty much inspired at my highest. I devote much time in it to make it look great. A lot of the time I'm basically a scanner. What I mean though is that I take one picture and transfer it onto paper by hand. I like realistic things like cars, buildings, people. Abstract really doesn't point out much of a idea to me. People like to stand around and watch me draw.

When it comes to people depending on how I'm feeling I like to talk, and hang out. I adore the elderly because they are so full of wisdom and wittiness. With my classmates I love joking around. It's something I never want to die out. I really can't stand to see people down, only because I know how it feels. I try to find ways to make them smile if they allow me. If not I let them cope.

I'm passionate about many things. Like family, and friends. I Love family and it's important to me because they are your first and last resort. No matter what they are behind you. Friends I like to have many friends from different backgrounds and styles. Sometimes I have to know how to let them all mix. If it was my way I would want everyone to get along but I know that won't happen. Some of my friends become so close they are like family. I call their parents my parents and vice versa.

Promises are many times is a difficult system. No ones perfect but I work to keep every promise I make. Sometimes I have to apologize for not keeping them but eventually they understand. Most of the time I achieve my goals of promise.

I work very hard. Sometimes I can be very much of a workaholic. It's not on purpose though. When something needs to get done I am the go to guy. I receive the instructions I get after it. When I get full speed ahead nothing gets in the way until I'm done. I have to say though once my focus is broken I often have difficulty getting back into swing

Best Invention Ever

Posted by Rell

Over the years there have been a lot of inventions. Millions of inventions. But there is one that stands out. This invention combines a projector and mobile phone in one. There are 2 models that I know about which are the LG expo and the Samsung W7900.

These devices can pretty much be used in conferences to display a presentation as would a regular projector would. Use the pictures to present a slide show to your family and friends. The LG expo is more like a add on projector. On the projector side it can reach about 8 ft.

The Phone contains a PC interface. It runs on Windows 6.5. It does the same functions as a normal phone. Make calls, texting, e-mail. The is not so bad. By looking at it you would expect it to be around $500 but it's relatively inexpensive. anywhere from $300 to $500.

Overall this phone is pretty cool to me. Maybe one day I would be walking around with one.
