Gets on my Nerves

Posted by Rell

What really antagonizes me is doing abstract art I don't understand the point. So does distracted drivers they don't see. Long lines at wal-mart not so fast check-out. Even people who don't understand bluetooth it's simple hands free.

Abstract art to me is pretty pointless. The picture is very unclear. I often find myself not seeing the meaning of what's being done. When I try to do abstract I pretty much get lost. I don't have patience for looking at it. It gives me the feeling of unreal life.

Distracted Drivers also wreck my nerves. They are basically driving blind. Distracted drivers cause many car crashes. resulting in injury, death, pile ups, and what many can't stand traffic jams. Distracted drivers don't see and end up hitting pedestrians.

Long Lines at Wal-mart are one my top main pet peeves. There are rarely enough registers open for a quick check out. I believe its a set-up to get you to get bored and look at more than what you came for. As soon as you spot it you want so you buy it.

One of the weirdest things is the people who don't understand bluetooth. Which is pretty simple to use. Put it in your ear and talk. It takes away the fact that you have to hold the phone to your ear. You basically go hands free. Which is sweet for if your doing a task that requires your hands.

My Thanks

Posted by Rell

This past time a lot has happened. I have made to my senior year. Reached the age of 18. Been able to stay out of trouble. Put a bigger focus on school. I'm thankful to have family and friends who care about me. Especially my mother, without her I probably wouldn't have made it this far. My friends without them I would have died of boredom. I'm really grateful for all my teachers.

I give thanks for making it to these crucial milestones. I've reached my final year of high school, after four years of vigorous work. I'm finally at the biggest checkpoint. One other milestone is I am now 18 which great because now I am an adult and have rights. It's also good because there are a lot of teens who don't get this far. So it means so much that I did. Plus I have been able to keep myself from getting into some trouble. Mainly by keeping a focus on the essentials, and keeping friends who are good and want to succeed at life.

I'm glad I have a family. There are there for me and support me. They also give me that push I need to keep going ahead. I love all my brothers and sisters and as all 11 of us I wouldn't trade for anything. For my mother we fight every once so often, but we manage to get along in the end. She has been able to be mommy and daddy to me. When I didn't have she would find a way so that I had. She may not be the best at times, but she's pretty good.

I happy to have a great line up of teachers this year. They work very hard so that learn and be ready for what's ahead. Because they are dedicated they give me the education I need to improve and grow. They are able to show and teach with what they are really passionate about. So thanks to them for putting in the time.

What I learned

Posted by Rell

This past week we worked with i-movie to present a famous artist. Working with i-movie was new to me I wasn't to sure where to start. I should have took the time to go through the tutorial and followed instructions. Its a guy thing we can figure it out. For my artist I chose William Blake. I learned how to make pictures go in the direction I want. I also learned how to set titles, transitions, you know the basics. William Blake was famous for his spiritual art work as well as his poetry. A lot of people thought William to be insane. But in reality he just painted his dreams. William art made you want to try to figure out what is going on. It had so much movement and personality put into it.

My Hero

My grandfather John D. Lawrence has the greatest influence on my life. My time with him was his last years of his life. He became so sick he had most of his bed bound until he had enough strength to go out. My grandpa J.D. was a very inspirational person. Also he was very wise, and caring. Much of my personality was molded from him. During his last years he taught me many lifelong lessons.

John Lawrence was a minister. He knew ways to reach out to people and catch there attention. He was a big part of church many people adored him. When you encountered his presence you were never left out no matter what was going on. When it came to church if you not able to make it he would come to you and give you the word. He was so inspirational when he talked. He would think of many different ways of seeing your views and his. Always on the positive side.

J.D. was also very wise. Every get stuck with an issue, he'll solve it. He would often have to figure out different ways of bringing the drama torn family back together. He knew how to instill discipline in you if need be a.k.a "the switch". And for some odd reason he knew how to bring out the best in others. Being around him brought security and safe haven from the depressors.

To My Grandfather John D. Lawrence because of you I am the man that stands before the world today.

The "Down Low" on the Economy

Posted by Rell

When we take a look at the economy now it is horrific. Many people are losing their jobs. Others not being able to move up in the world. Some aren't able to find income. The economy has affected me in several different ways. It has increased the bills, takes it longer to get a raise, and hours at work have become scarce.

The economy has put more stress on bills at home. Mainly because my mom is unable to work due to injuries. since she is unable to work any income that comes in goes to the bills. A lot of times I have to help pay them off. Which in turns forces some sacrifices to be made. making me an unhappy camper.

At work it has become harder to get a raise. My raises come every 6 months. Now the economy is so bad my raises take a longer period to come. My employer looks to save more money. They drop pay according to if you are full-time or part-time. It's even bigger when it comes to how many hours there are available to work. It's a pain to pick up extra hours only for the reason that corporate wanted to have some cut backs. The only way to get more hours if someone goes on a leave or vacation.

The Most Sinister Character in Macbeth

Posted by Rell

The most evil character would be the Main guy Macbeth. Macbeth finds out his future and it becomes his desire. He tells of this to his wife Lady Macbeth and They plot to kill so this desire becomes fulfilled. Macbeth then chooses commit more killings in order to keep his secret and for his personal gain.

When Macbeth discovers his fate through the witch sisters. He decides that it needs to be fulfilled. His future foretold was that he would become king. Macbeth's desire drove him to kill Duncan. Which in turn gives him the crown. A powerful motive to gain the throne. Desire brought the fire in his heart to kill.

This was not done single handily though Lady Macbeth assisted in instilling the thoughts of murder into Macbeth's desire. Lady Macbeth pushed the drive to kill Duncan. She put the plot in front of Macbeth. Drove away his thoughts of hesitation by calling him names. So the Factors added to Macbeth ambitions to become king. Duncan was originally was supposed to be the only killed but, Macbeth added the guards to his path ruler ship only because they were potential witnesses. He stated that his reason of killing the guards was rage, because they did not protect the king.

Macbeth's body count goes up once again because people are becoming suspicious of the death's. Only this time Banquo catches on. Macbeth makes the decision to have Banquo killed. He doesn't just stop there he orders Banquo's son also killed because he doesn't want Banquo's generation to take throne. Macbeth's desires are fulfilled and he intends to keep it that way.

So in my defense Macbeth is very sinister of all characters. He kills for his desires. Macbeth doesn't want to get caught because he is afraid of what's ahead so any one that gets on his trail he intends to take them out.

Music

Posted by Rell

Many people have their outlook on music. Some say country has more than any other. Some say pop is more upbeat than any other. All others may say that theirs rock the hardest. Well I'm with the ones who say hip-hop the most in demand. Hip-hop is the most in demand to me because it's found everywhere. Many people today know at least one song out of hip-hop. Radio Stations are abundant for hip-hop. Many television shows play hip-hop. Even sports are in on it for example Football, and Baseball play hip-hop through out the games and during halftime shows. School dances are pretty much dominated by hip-hop.

Hip-hop is at the top of the music food chain. It is found basically everywhere you can possibly go. When your in the car you may be blasting your music and come to a stop light and be sitting next to another car playing their hip-hop. Then look behind you and behold the car behind your car is playing their hip-hop. Very common huh? I think so, you just can't possibly go somewhere and not find hip-hop. What about the mall? Well now malls have upgraded to HDTV in their food courts. Many of which play music majority of the time that they are functioning. But, not just any kind of music but..... you guessed it Hip-hop! When attending county fairs and jump on the amusement rides they Hip-hop as you ride.

This In turn goes to show that many people know or heard of at least one hip-hop song. They know because no matter where they go or have been it was around them. They don't have to listen to hip-hop but once when they encounter it they would be very familiar with it. In most cases you can ask have you heard this song. Someone who doesn't listen to hip-hop may just tell you no, but just tell you about a song they heard and liked.

Hip-hop is mainstreamed through Radio a lot. Radio provides many stations for hip-hop. They advertise the concerts, albums, and movies are all hip-hop based. During sporting events hip-hop can heard in between plays and breaks. Sometimes halftime shows are dedicated to Hip-hop. You can find all this during football, basketball, and Baseball games

LOTF - Reflection

Looking back on the LOTF project I was very disappointed. It wasn't what I expected. Just a case of unfortunate events. I really believe that if I am giving a similar project there will be a very huge difference. It wouldn't be likely that everyone is out due to sickness or unforeseen problems.

What If....

Posted by Rell

What if..........I won homecoming King. I think that if I won it would be the highlight of my life. It wouldn't change much but it would bring me that moment of joy. If I win it would tell me a lot how most of my peers see me. I would feel a lot better about myself, a feeling of acceptance.

If I were to win homecoming king that would be one major highlight of my life. When I'm older I could say to my kids, "Back in my day I was a king!". I could go out with my friends and boast of winning the title of king in high school. It would probably get on they're nerves, but hey what can they do. I won homecoming King!

If I won homecoming king not much of my life would change. The most that could happen would be gaining a little bit more friends. I know if I won homecoming king for that moment It would be so uplifting. It would feel like so much weight is taken off me. That would be enough for me.

Facing The Challenge

As many may know Senior year of high school is the most important year. Its a year for excitement, anxiousness, taking that first step into adulthood, or just getting ready college. Ever thought of or remember the challenges that become apparent through out this crucial time. I will fill you in on my obstacle world.

One of my main obstacles is deciding what I'm really going to do once I am out of high school. I have a lot of ideas such as nursing, medicine, automotive, engineering, and business administration. I plan on just narrowing my choices down. I want to attend a community or junior college out of Manatee County. I'm not really big on going to college, but I'll do what it takes to make a living. One thing is if I'm really good I'll take over or start many businesses as I can

One other obstacle is getting through this school year without losing focus. I will try to fix this by mainly drowning out the inessentials. I don't like being stressed out it takes my mind out of direction. Things just aren't clear to comprehend. If I lose the battle for focus I'll just place things on the back burner. So I pretty much have to block bad thoughts or try to regain my focus as much as possible

One huge snag I also have is whether or not I should work more. If I work more I would be able to pay for more upcoming senior events and items I need. On the other hand working more would take more time away from school work and clubs and probably affect my performance and motivation. I'm really not sure how I'm going to do it all. I'm basically all on my own and my parents can't really help me out. I just believe that something will work out for me eventually. For now I'm playing it safe. I work as much as I can as long as keep my grades up, get enough sleep, have enough time for homework and clubs.

High School Undergraduates

Thinking back when I was a freshman. Life was exciting, and not to mention intimidating. As a "littlun" I always thought "just can't wait until high school it will be a lot better than elementary and middle school". Do you know what? It is!

Looking back now freshman year was the next best thing to being a senior. You can be yourself. Wear open toe shoes or sandals. Make more friends. Reacquaint with old friends. Experience more freedom from your parents. Then the downturn hits! As a freshman you are considered the school babies. Freshmen also tend to run into older classmates who despise fresh meat (freshmen). There are actually some teachers and administrators who don't take too well with freshmen. At this point how you think things should go doesn't matter.Certain classes you can't get until your a sophomore.Your only worries are basically more experienced High Schoolers and FCAT. I had a little advantage over many other freshman only because I had the appearance of a senior, played football, and knew many upperclassmen. I was able to slip by attacks on freshmen by the coverage of senior, Latravis Washington (who now plays quarterback for Nebraska Huskers).

I was a good student didn't make many bad choices, always wanted to do the right thing. I did my work and kept the mind frame what I do now will affect my future. My mom always expected better from me so I decided to expect more from myself. Many other freshmen among my group probably didn't think the same way. They had it set I don't have to pass the FCAT this year because it won't count until taking it next year.

In saying that I wouldn't change a thing. The best advice to give to you as a freshmen, don't shortcut yourself. You have to do the work. Also as a freshman it would be best to get classes that you need, but not majorly focused on out of the way 1st. One example is getting all your P.E. based classes over with. You may feel like it's doing nothing for you, but in the long run it will come back to you. Get involved with your school whether it's activities, sports, and clubs. Doing this will boost your rep or popularity. Giving yourself higher standards or goals will be worth it by senior year. Plus you'll feel good once you're told your walking on graduation night.

Senior Year

Posted by Rell

As a Bayshore High School senior there's a lot in store for me. First in line is accomplishing my many tasks. Such as getting involved in my school more than I ever have before. This would mean participating in more than one club like TSA (president), SGA, and Key Club. Also attending as many events and games as I can. Another hill I'm looking at conquering is keeping my grades up , studying, and dominating the SAT in December. As a senior I'm looking forward getting after what needs to be done as well as what I want to get done. So basically I'm looking forward to getting my school work and doing my best academic wise. What I want to look forward to is going to all TSA conferences and competitions this year. I don't really know what SGA is all about but whatever the task i'll be getting my hands into it as much as I can. Key Club is a plus for community service. I'm also looking forward doing all the fun things seniors do. In saying that I want to avoid bad crowds. Plus avoid obtaining careless attitudes and habits. My goals include finishing school, going to college, finding a job that I love doing, and starting a new life. ;)
